Four Piano Concert

Picture
21.8.2011    Traditionally the Pianoduo Yukiko Hasegawa and Tobias Borsboom plays the Spring and Autumn concert in the special Doolaard Theatre in Anna Paulowna. The next Autumn Concert however will be a little different.

In his theatre the art painter Kees Doolaard brought together the different disciplines of art. The result is a stage surrounded by his own colourful paintings. Doolaard`s greatest wish is to have there perform four pianists on four grand pianos.

The next Autumn concert, on the 2nd of October, is all about this unique dream. The four pianists that are coming, Mengjie Han, Wouter Bergenhuizen, Tobias Borsboom and Yukiko Hasegawa, will perform pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel and Milhaud on two and four pianos.
Time: 15:00. Location: Het Doolaard Theater, Middenweg 9b, Anna Paulowna. Entrance: 10,- Euro.

Japanese Charity Concert

Picture
15.5.2011     Last Saturday, the 14th of May, people enjoyed a beautiful concert in the Maison Erard in Amsterdam, a piano salon owned by Frits Janmaat, filled with Erard grand piano's. The cosy atmosphere of the salon and the not too large number of people made it possible to listen to pianist Yukiko Hasegawa very intimately. Yukiko Hasegawa organised this concert to collect money to help Japan after the huge earthquake.

Together with other musicians a beautiful program was performed, including the fantasy in f minor for four hands of Schubert (with pianist Tobias Borsboom), Romance Op. 36 of Saint-saëns (with hornist Renske Wijma), the cello sonata in e minor of Brahms (by Noriko Yabe, piano and Shiho Nishimuro, cello) and the 30th piano sonata of Beethoven (Yukiko Hasegawa). Pieces that fit the Erard piano very well, as also became clear from the introductory story by Frits Janmaat about the Erard piano's.

For the audience and for the musicians it was not just a lovely evening with lovely music, but also a moment of thought for the victims of the disaster. At the end of the concert a total of € 210 was collected and was given to the Japanese Red Cross.
